Your Summer Job

Within elderly care, we actively work to ensure that food and the meal experience are a natural part of daily life and one of the day's greatest sources of joy for our elderly residents.

As a cook with us, you will play an important role in creating good, nutritious, and well-prepared food from scratch. The work also includes preparing special diets and food with adapted consistency. The job involves all tasks common in large-scale kitchens, such as salad preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, self-control, and serving. Tasks vary, and work is done according to a rotating schedule. In this way, you will learn all the duties that occur in the kitchen.

The elderly care department has a total of 14 kitchens with approximately 100 employees who produce around 3,300 portions daily, both for our own restaurants and for individual homes.

Who are you?

We are primarily looking for you who are a trained cook, but there are also opportunities for kitchen assistants if needed.

To be employed as a cook, you must:

• Have a completed upper secondary education in restaurant and food or equivalent adult education as a cook, as well as previous experience working as a cook.

To be employed as a trained kitchen assistant, you must:

• Have an ongoing or completed upper secondary education in restaurant and food or equivalent adult education.

If you lack formal education but have an interest in food and cooking, you can work as an untrained kitchen assistant.

Previous experience in cooking in large-scale kitchens is an asset. You must be proficient in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as you need to communicate with citizens and colleagues, as well as write and read notes in daily work. You must also be at least 18 years old to work with us.

As a person, you are responsible and understand the importance of high quality and a good service level. You are a team player who finds it easy to collaborate and enjoys working at a fast pace. Naturally, you have a great interest in cooking.

We offer varied work with a collective agreement salary and an introduction to the job. You will work with competent and experienced colleagues and have the opportunity for valuable exchange of experience and development.

Have you worked as a summer employee with us at the Social Administration in Jönköping Municipality in previous years? Then you may be eligible for a return bonus at the end of the summer.

Good to know

The recruitment concerns vacation substitutes as cooks or kitchen assistants for several of our kitchens within Jönköping Municipality's elderly care. Working hours are during the day, both on weekdays and on weekend shifts, which occur approximately every other weekend. The employment rate is full-time or by agreement.

Our vacation period extends from week 25 to 34, but the greatest need for vacation substitutes is between week 29 and 33. We prefer that applicants can work continuously during these weeks.

Bus and train connections are limited to some of our elderly care homes located in the municipality's outer areas. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have a B driver's license and access to a car or other transport if you do not live in the immediate area.
